Face Hunting Filter
In this visual journal, I present my research on how a human-mimic organ - mouth can steer human perception of objects into human-like faces, due to a special area in human brain called "Fusiform Face Area (FFA)". You can probably have the FFA function when you notice something look like human face in a non-human context. For instance, when you saw two adjacent repeated circles you would want to FIND another nearby dot to be the mouth.
The "finding" process often triggers a moment of "wow" when the final face is formed, by our brain. That intrigues me.
What if objects have human-like emotions and in return trigger human emotions? What if, instead of objects that cater to humans, these objects seem to have a spirit of rebellion? What if humans and objects can co-create "wow" via imagination?
I created Snapchat filters to further help me and people like me to explore more faces in places/on objects.

Under the dominance of consumerism, goods are more and more easily abandoned by us. I always believe that the relationship between people and objects can and needs to be rethinked, from a one-way person->create->thing to a more interdependent and restrained relationship between people<->thing. In fact, every illusion about a human face is also an opportunity to empathize with objects. On the one hand, it needs to be noticed and on the other hand it needs to be learned.
